Birthday Mini Book!
BIG NEWS. You know that feeling when you have totally finished a project that took you FOREVER. Well, my best friend turned 25 this weekend and for her birthday I asked 25 different people from her life to submit one birthday wish, and I complied them into a 25 wishes for your 25th birthday book. I wanted the wishes to be handwritten so I snail mailed the chosen people pieces of white cardstock in early October and just last week got all the wishes and photos in order. I have everyone from her friends now, to her grandparents, to her favorite high school french teacher to friends from camp. It was so much fun to watch her look at this because she had no idea who was coming next in the album.
I recommend doing a similar project like this around Thanksgiving when you can have each child write what they are thankful for, or even sooner for Valentines day and you could write one thing that you love about someone - or of course around someones birthday! It is just a really nice way to incorperate a lot of different people into one cohesive gift.
Id love to hear what you think! Please leave a comment
PS. All the supplies except for the chipboard album can be bought in the store! Let me know if there is a technque or an item you like and I can tell you what it is.

What kind of hole puncher did you use?
What are the dimensions of the book? Did you have a template or did you have to cut out each page individually?
Overall, how long did it take you to compile and complete?
Very cleaver and creative idea!
Lots of good questions.
Im assuming you meant the holes where the rings are? They came like that. The chipboard book is made by Little Yellow Bicycle. The reason I chose that album is because its long – 11.75 inches. I knew I had two things to arrange on each page (the wish, and the photo), both about 4 by 6 inches so I wanted to be able to arrange them vertically, or horizontally. I precut all the pieces of white that the wishes were written on to be 5.75 by 3.75 asking each person to write a wish, and then change the orientation and duplicate the wish so that i could choose how I wanted it to look in the book, and then if i messed up on one while distressing or something i wouldnt be completely screwed – I sent each person about four of those pieces in self addressed stamped envelopes.
If you wanted to create your own album, I would recommend the Big Bite, we carry them in the store and it can punch through literally almost everything – all those eyelets you see randomly around the page can be set and punched with the big bite too.
I started in October. And by that I mean I chose the 25 people, contacted them and sent out the pieces of paper. I figured that even though I was sending self stamped return envelopes along it would still take people two months to send them back. I was right. Infact I didnt get back some wishes until last week! Anyway, I spent about 5 to 15 minutes on each page – it was really quick because the majority of the page was taken up by the photo and by the wish so all I had to do is add a little something to make it look nice and poof, all done.
What a great idea! So thoughtful and sweet. Thanks for sharing!
